I Am More Than What Happened to Me

For a long time, I put myself and my dreams on hold.

I was so busy showing up for everyone else that I sometimes forgot to show up for myself. I smiled when I wanted to cry, said I was okay when I wasn’t, and kept moving even when I felt tired and discouraged.

But somewhere inside me, I knew my story was not over.

I finally took the time to finish my degree. It meant more than earning a piece of paper—it reminded me that I am capable, determined, and stronger than I sometimes realize.

I also finished writing the children’s book that had been in my heart for years. There were moments when I wondered if I would ever complete it, but I did.

I finished my degree.

I wrote my book.

And I proved to myself that it was not too late.

I am sharing this anonymously because some parts of my journey are still private. But if you are a woman who has placed her dreams on hold while taking care of everyone else, I want you to know that you are not behind.

It is not too late to finish what you started.

Sometimes we have to survive before we can dream again. Sometimes we have to heal before we can see how strong we truly are.

I am still healing, learning, and becoming. I do not have everything figured out, but I know my difficult chapters do not get to decide how my story ends.

I am more than what happened to me.

I am a woman with a purpose, a voice, and dreams that still matter.

This is not the end of my story.

I’m just getting started.
